Creating Rummage Zones At Home

Updated: Dec 30, 2018

Rummaging is common for people with dementia. Often people will rummage in drawers, boxes, or closets. They do this to keep busy, boredom, or they are looking for something. A good suggestion is to make a rummaging box. Make it readily available. If you are experiencing more rummaging in the house make sure to take out valuables or unsafe items. Keep in mind that the person is going to rummage and you are unlikely to stop this but you might be able to distract the person.
